Regarding happiness – bliss: (Sukh Sambandhi.)
There are two types of happiness: worldly happiness and transcendental happiness. Worldly happiness is ephemeral and momentary. Therefore, it is not true happiness but merely an illusion of happiness. For this reason, one should not strive for worldly happiness because it is dependent on material possessions and wealth, which eventually dissipate and do not bring lasting fulfillment.
The happiness derived from the murti of Bhagwan Swaminarayan is transcendental happiness. This happiness is eternal and everlasting. It is the true and real happiness. Contemplate and prioritize this happiness day and night. When the value of this happiness is truly understood, all other worldly pleasures become insignificant, and their pursuit loses its significance.
It is essential to clearly understand the distinction between physical (bhautik) and transcendental (abhautik) happiness for meditation. Physical happiness, such as cars, houses, wealth, and relationships, is fleeting and impermanent. On the other hand, the happiness derived from the form of Bhagwan Swaminarayan is transcendental, eternal, and indestructible.
To attain transient happiness, one should not approach God with desires. The eternal happiness found in the murti of Swaminarayan Bhagwan should be desired and pursued through efforts meant for that purpose alone. This is known as a selfless devotee. Such a person remains selfless and steadfast.
To forsake transient pleasures derived from the five senses, householders and renunciants alike adopt self-discipline according to their respective stages of life. Thus, they can become worthy of enjoying the happiness found in the murti alone.
